I was delighted to be invited to deliver a talk on empowering our tribal communities with IT and digital skills at Kanas Jaga 2024!
Kanas Jaga (dream place) is a project under Kudumbashree Mission aimed at making indigenous children excel in different fields. šØšš
The event held on 26th and 27th under this initiative was a festival of short films by children from tribal communities. āØ
My talk was informed by my work with digital inclusion where I've witnessed how technology can be a great equalizer.
Introducing IT/Digital skills to indigenous communities transcends mere computer literacy; it serves as a gateway to broader opportunities:
Leveling the playing field: Providing equal access to knowledge and resources.
Enhancing educational opportunities: Offering new ways to learn and grow.
Boosting economic prospects: Creating pathways for new job opportunities and entrepreneurship.
Fostering community development: Strengthening connections and collaboration within and beyond the community.
Kanas Jaga is a wonderful initiative, and it was a great experience to take part in the event, share my thoughts and meet other like-minded individuals who are committed to empowering our indigenous children!
But it does not end here. It is a conversation that needs to continue and evolve. Technology is not a magic solution, but it IS a powerful tool that can amplify human potential when approached with respect, understanding, and genuine collaboration.
So let's do just that and continue the conversation here! Share your thoughts on how you think technology can become a bridge rather than a barrier for marginalized communities?
